SOLAR PV

Expand your expertise in renewable energy with our solar PV courses. These courses offer comprehensive training on the installation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems, equipping you with the skills needed to excel in the growing solar energy industry. Ideal for professionals looking to specialise in sustainable energy solutions.

DESCRIPTION

Delegates who book this course also often book on to our Battery Storage Course.

This course has been developed with the aim of providing electricians with the skills and knowledge required to install small scale photovoltaic (PV) systems. The course has been structured to meet the requirements of the National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised as a demonstration of competence for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

Assessments normally consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations. This certification meets the requirements for MCS operators. Certificates are normally valid for 5 years.

Such a course is a requirement of the Minimum Technical Competency document for PV installers and is recognised by the MCS operators as evidence of suitable training.

This 3-day course will enable candidates to select the most appropriate solar Photovoltaic system for a property to meet the client’s needs and to commission and hand over the system. It will also provide an understanding of all the legal issues surrounding the installation of these systems and guidance on the completion and submission of all the appropriate notifications.

The course and manual (included in course fee which covers the Certification Fee too) cover:

  • Photovoltaic panels in the context of renewable technologies
  • How a Photovoltaic system works – principles and components
  • Design of a PV system
  • Installation of a PV system
  • Commissioning and Client handover
  • Maintenance and Fault Finding
  • Control and power requirements
  • System commissioning and handover to the client

PREREQUISITES

Trainees must hold a formal craft qualification e.g. N/SVQ 3 in Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures) or equivalent earlier certification and 18th Edition BS7671:2022.

Delegates will need to bring a photo ID and a passport photo on the first day.
